Police probing beating, abduction of Diamond Woman
Police are said to be investigating an incident where a woman was taken from her home in Diamond last Saturday night, December 21, 2024, beaten, and dropped off somewhere between Gibson Corner and Walker Piece.
Reports are that sometime on Saturday night, intruders entered the woman’s home in Diamond where she was alone with a child, beat her, and demanded money.
The woman is said to have told the intruders, two men and a woman, that she had no money after which they put a bag over her head, placed her in a vehicle and drove to the Leeward side of the island, leaving the child alone in the house.
A source said the woman was badly beaten during the ordeal, and at one point the bag was removed and she noticed that she was somewhere in Campden Park.
The source also told SEARCHLIGHT that the two men wanted to kill the woman, but were convinced not to by their female accomplice so they decided to ditch the woman. She was noticed by a motorist who assisted her in contacting the police via phone.
An officer is said to have instructed the motorist, a female, to take the woman to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH), where she received medical attention and was interviewed by investigators.
On Monday December 23,2024, head of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Superintendent of Police Clauston Francis, said the matter is under investigation, but offered no other details.
Last week Monday, December 16, 2024, Superintendent Francis said at a press briefing at police headquarters that the CID takes all reports of violence against women seriously and they are relentless in their approach to bringing people responsible for crimes against women to justice. At the time, the police were reporting on a breakthrough in their investigations into the murder of Precious Williams, the teenager whose mutilated body was stuffed in a bag and discarded in the Richmond Hill area.
