Ronald Millington is SVG’s 50th homicide
On Sunday, June 16, 2024, Ronald “Pliers” Millington broke his leg while fleeing from a shop in Murray’s Village after a gunman shot and killed 33-year old Zeno “Sarge” Lee.
But last Friday December 6, Millington, 40, could not run from a gunman as he was still using crutches to aid him to walk.
The self-employed resident of Murray’s Village was shot multiple times in his head, around 9:25 p.m., and was pronounced dead at the scene by the District Medical Officer (DMO) as concerned villagers looked on.
Millington, also known as “Soap up”, is this country’s 50th homicide for 2024, and the fifth person killed in the Murray’s Village/Paul Over area this year.
On Monday, the deceased man’s mother said she was not in a frame of mind to talk about her son and broke down in tears.
Millington was one of several persons at The Waterfall Bar on Sunday, June 16 this year when, at around 4:30 p.m., Zeno “Sarge” Lee, 33, was shot and died on the spot.
A lone gunman had rushed into the bar where Lee was hanging out with friends. Another man, Enrique “Crash” McClean/King, was shot but survived and Millington ran, jumping over an embankment into a river, breaking his leg.
Last August, Lemar “Chak” Isaacs was charged that with malice aforethought he caused the death of Lee by an unlawful act and wounded the other men.
Millington is a well-known person on the streets of Kingstown who once frequented the Paul’s Avenue area, but stopped after he was severely chopped on one of his arms by a construction worker from Barrouallie, Austin Elson Gloster, also known as “Bagga”. Millington had slapped Gloster in his face and was reportedly chopped by Gloster as revenge.
Gloster was shot and killed on Saturday October 17, 2020 around 9: 15 a.m. in Paul’s Avenue. Ramon “Carpie” Thomas of McKies Hill was questioned in relation to Gloster’s death but was never charged. Thomas himself was shot in Paul’s Avenue in August, 2021 and died in hospital.
The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), is investigating Millington’s fatal shooting, and said over the weekend that investigators recovered, at the scene, several spent shells and other exhibits critical to the investigation.
The RSVGPF is appealing to anyone with information that could assist in the investigation to come forward.
“Your cooperation is vital in ensuring justice in this matter and maintaining the safety and security of our nation,” the Police said in a release.
St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) is now five shy of the 2023 record of 55 homicides.
