Women allegedly involved in Langley Park Primary School melee plead not guilty

Three women charged in connection with a melee seen on a Facebook video in circulation, pleaded not guilty in court yesterday, Monday, October 7, 2024 when they appeared at the Georgetown Magistrate’s Court.

The police said in a release that on October 3, 2024, they arrested and

charged Roxy Baptiste, a 43-year-old self-employed resident of New Chapmans; Lukeisha Baptiste, a 36-year-old farmer of New Chapmans; and 24 year old Azonia Caine, a secretary also from New Chapmans.

The women were charged with multiple offences, including assault and criminal trespass.

The police release said according to the investigation, at around 9:00 a.m on October 3, 2024, the accused allegedly entered the Langley Park Primary School, specifically the school yard, as trespassers with the intent to commit the offence of assault bodily harm.

While on the premises, Roxy Baptiste and Caine allegedly assaulted a 38 year old female auxiliary police officer by beating her about the body with their hands, causing actual bodily harm.

In a separate but related incident, Roxy Baptiste and Lukeisha Baptiste allegedly assaulted a 34 year old female teacher in a similar manner, resulting in actual bodily harm.

The offences were committed in Langley Park on October 3, 2024.

All three accused were granted station bail in the sum of EC$2,000.00 each with one surety, and were ordered not to have any contact with the complainant. When the matter was heard at the

Georgetown Magistrate Court on October 7,2024 the women pleaded not guilty to the charges. Station bail will continue, and the matter was adjourned to November 11, 2024.
