School saddened over death of Grade 6 student

The CW Prescod Primary School (CWPPS), has expressed sadness over the passing of 10 year old Dannique Small, a primary school student of Glen over whose death the police have launched an investigation.

“It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of Dannique Small, a Grade 6 student. Dannique touched the lives of many with her kindness, enthusiasm, and warmth,” the school said in a Facebook post this week.

“She was a disciplined student who exemplified the core values of the CWPPS. Dannique was a member of the school’s football team. She will be greatly missed by all who know her.” The Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force (RSVGPF), in a release, said investigators attached to the Calliaqua Police Station in the South-Central Division launched an investigation on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in Glen.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that around midday on Saturday September 14, 2024, the police at the Calliaqua Police Station received a report via telephone that a family of four was discovered in their house in Glen in distress and one of them appeared to be dead. The police immediately responded to the report and visited the scene,” the release stated.

It went on to say that on arrival at the scene, the police discovered four females – one adult, and three minors in the house. The District Medical Officer who was called to the scene, pronounced the 10 year old child dead.

The CW Prescod Primary School also said in their social media post, “We also extend a speedy recovery to her sister Glo, who is a student in kindergarten.

“During this challenging time, our thoughts and condolences go out to Dannique’s mother, siblings, family, friends, and everyone who knew her. May God’s comfort be with us at this trying time. Sweet sleep our little angel.”

The police press release also stated that a post-mortem examination is expected to be conducted on the body of the child, and they are encouraging anyone with information that can assist with the investigations to contact them.
