Youth granted bail in attempted robbery, now on murder charge

A man who was recently granted bail in connection with an attempted burglary in South Rivers, has now been charged with murder, attempted murder, wounding with intent, and using a firearm to aid in the commission of an offence.

Lemar Isaacs, 22, of Mckie’s Hill appeared at the Serious Offences Court on July 30, 2024 before Senior Magistrate, Colin John, where he was charged that on June 16, 2024 at Murray’s Village, with malice aforethought he caused A man who was recently granted bail in connection with an attempted burglary in South Rivers, has now been charged with murder, attempted murder, wounding with intent, and using a firearm to aid in the commission of an offence.

Lemar Isaacs, 22, of Mckie’s Hill appeared at the Serious Offences Court on July 30, 2024 before Senior Magistrate, Colin John, where he was charged that on June 16, 2024 at Murray’s Village, with malice aforethought he caused the death of 33-year-old businessman, Zeno Lee of Murray’s Village by an unlawful act.

He also was charged that on the same date and place, with intent to commit the offence of murder used a firearm to aid in the commission of the offence.

On the same day as Lee’s murder, Issacs allegedly attempted to murder Enrique King, a 24-year-old bartender from Richmond Hill by shooting him. Furthermore, Isaacs is accused of unlawfully and maliciously causing grievous bodily harm to Ronald Millington, a 40-year-old unemployed resident of Murray’s Village with intent so to do. Millington was reportedly shot and fell into a river at Murray’s Village on June 16, 2024.

The senior magistrate informed Isaacs that all of the offences were laid indictably, so he was not required to enter a plea.

Reports are that on the date in question, at around 4.30 p.m. a gunman opened fire at The Waterfall Bar in Murray’s Village on the outskirts of the capital, where Lee was shot dead, and two others were wounded.

The matter is adjourned to October 3, 2024 for the commencement of his Preliminary Inquiry.

Less than two weeks prior, on Friday, July 19, 2024, Isaacs, along with Erasto Dasilva; Esroy “Pirate” Jeffers; Rakiesha Joseph; Enrique John; and Sharome Dopwell appeared at the Serious Offences Court where multiple charges were laid against them.

The five were charged that on July 16, 2024, at South Rivers they had in their possession an unlicensed firearm; unlicensed ammunition; used a firearm in the commission of a robbery; committed attempted murder and armed robbery; and caused over $3000 worth of damage to the property of the General Employees Cooperative Credit Union (GECCU), branch in South Rivers. The property damaged includes two metal and glass doors, a deadbolt lock, and a skylight.

Each accused was granted bail in the sum of $25,000; they all were given reporting conditions. However, bail is not open to Isaacs due to his murder charge. Therefore, he was remanded in custody.
