Thirteen get scholarships to study in Cuba

Thirteen Vincentians will leave the State later this month for Cuba on scholarships to study in various institutions of higher learning in that Spanish-speaking country.

They will join dozens of other Vincentians who have been granted scholarships by the Government of Cuba and already are in Cuba pursuing studies in various fields. Ambassador of Cuba to St Vincent and the Grenadines, Carlos Ernesto Rodriguez Etcheverry, presented 10 of the 13 scholarship recipients with their award packages at a ceremony held at the Cuban Embassy on Tuesday, July 30, 2024; some recipients were out of State.

The students will pursue first degree studies in medicine, Mechanical Engineering, and Dentistry; there is one post-graduate scholarship recipient in the group.

Among persons witnessing the presentation of awards were Minister of Health, St Clair Prince, and Training Officer within the Services Commissions Department, Petron George.
