Adrian Sam cops SVGCC’s 2024 Top Sports Award

Adrian Sam emerged as the Sports Personality of the Year, when the St Vincent and the Grenadines Community College (SVGCC), held  its third annual Sports Awards Ceremony at the College’s Hospitality and Maritime Training Institute at Diamond on June 20, 2024.

Apart from winning  the most prestigious award, Sam was the Sportsman of the Year, and the Basketballer of the Year.

A multi-talented sportsman, Sam, of Associates Combined, was named the SVGCC’s Basketball Competition’s MVP, as well as his team’s MVP.

In addition, Sam was  the MVP of semi-final two, MVP of the  third place play off, and the honorary Best Defensive Player.

To showcase his other sporting talents, Sam also was a member of the St Vincent and the Grenadines Senior Men’s Rugby Team to the Rugby Americas North (RAN) 15s in Barbados in May.

The rounded sportsman was a double gold medallist at the 2024 Wendell Hercules National Championships at the Diamond Track Facility, that ended May 5.
Competing for ROSES Academy, he took the Men’s Long Jump and High Jump events.

Winning the Footballer of the Year award was System Three’s Chad Haynes, with Kimeisha Antoine copping the Netballer of the Year,  and Sportswoman of the Year accolades. Antoine represented Associates Combined in the college’s competition.

Another Associates Combined member, Kodi Grant, won the Cricketer of the Year award; Jessica Mc Carter of Spencer’s Table Tennis Club, copped the award for Table Tennis Player of the Year.

Meanwhile, Country Roots’  Dishawn Alexander, copped the Volleyballer of the Year accolade; Romaul  James of High Performance, the Athlete of the Year; and Mc Carter, the Non- Affiliated Athlete of the Year award and Most Promising Athlete of the Year.

Hope and Hope Inc. won the Non- Affiliated Entity of the Year, and the Division of Arts, Science and General Studies- the Division of the Year.

Additionally, Roneika Gibson, Odean Culzac-Grant, Deon Benjie, Adrian Sam, Kirk Hamlet, and Klyvert Brown, were recognized as unsung heroes, as their behind the scenes efforts were acknowledged.

Swimmer, Shane Cadogan was the featured speaker at the ceremony.
