Police seize Tec-9, other weapons and ammunition

A POLICE OPERATION to rid the streets of St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG) of illicit drugs, illegal firearms, and ammunition has resulted in the arrest of three men, and seizure of three guns, imitation firearm and a quantity of ammunition.

THIS TEC-9 9MM PISTOL (at right), was among weapons and ammunition seized by police during operations in several hotspots throughout the country.

The police said in a release that the Rapid Response Unit (RRU), conducted several operations between June 3 and June 7, 2022 in different “hotspots” throughout the country which resulted in the arrest of five men and the seizure of three firearms, one imitation firearm, and 19 rounds of ammunition.

As a result three men were charged and have appeared in court.

Tevin Miller, an 18 year old mechanic of Belair was charged with having in his possession one home made firearm without a license issued under the Firearms Act, at Belair at about 4:45 a.m on Friday, June 3, 2022.

Carl Quow, a 21 year old labourer of Chauncey; and 22 year old Anil Greaves, a delivery clerk of Belair were jointly charged with having in their possession one home made firearm without a license issued under the Firearms Act, at Belair at about 4:15 a.m on Friday, June 3, 2022.

The accused men appeared in the Serious Offences Court (SOC) on Monday, June 6, 2022.

Miller pleaded guilty and was remanded into custody. His matter was adjourned to Monday,June 13 for sentencing.

Quow and Greaves pled not guilty and each was granted bail in the sum of $10,000.00 with one surety. Quow was ordered to report to the Questelles police station every Monday and Friday between 6:00 a.m and 6:00 p.m, while Greaves was ordered to report at the Calliaqua police station on the same days and between the same times. In addition, Greaves was ordered to surrender all travel documents, and stop notices have been placed against him at all ports of entry/exit.

The defendants will reappear in Court on Monday, June 13.

The police said that in the operation on Tuesday, June 7, a search warrant was executed at a house in Redemption Sharpes where one Tec-9 9mm pistol and 19 rounds of 9mm ammunition were recovered. No arrest has been made as yet in relation to this incident.
