Coast Guard hunting for Catamaran missing from waters off Young Island

Local and regional authorities are on the lookout for a yacht which was previously moored off the coast of Young Island but has now been reported missing.

According to officials, a 44ft Catamaran ‘Kailani II’ was last accounted for at Young Island, at around 10 p.m on October 8. The caretaker of the vessel, Jimmy Crecia, reported it missing the following morning, and since then the St Vincent and the Grenadines Coast Guard unit of the Royal St Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force(RSVGPF) has been patrolling.

Since the first patrol conducted on the day of the report and up to press time, there has been no sight or news of the vessel. The Regional Security System(RSS) and the regional coastguards of St Lucia, Grenada, and Trinidad and Tobago, have all been alerted to the disappearance of the catamaran.

The white Catamaran, registration number 843330, is not a Vincentian owned or registered yacht.
