Amerijet moves over 36,000 pounds of tuna, conch out of AIA
OVER 36,000 POUNDS of tuna and conch were exported from St Vincent and the Grenadines this past Wednesday, the largest export of seafood on record for this country.
The shipment was sent to Miami via Amerijet by Bequia Seafood Company Limited, a Bequia- based business established last year.
Deon Leslie, one of the persons behind Bequia Seafood, told SEARCHLIGHT on Wednesday
PART of the over 36,000 pounds of tuna and conch which were exported from St Vincent and the Grenadines this past Wednesday, the largest export of seafood on record for this country.
that his company has been exporting seafood every week for the last three months and this is just the beginning, as they are planning on many more shipments.
“It is moving forward, and we are looking at a bright future for St Vincent and the Grenadines. This load is just five boats and we are looking at a lot of boats to land, but we have to put some things in place first,” Leslie commented while supervising the shipment at the Argyle International Airport (AIA) on Wednesday.
He noted that without the AIA, the shipment would not have been possible, but added that some other things must be put in place to make the process smoother.
“The AIA is a way to get the product out of here and we have a lot of fish that we can export, and we want the fishermen to benefit from this. We are going to buy the fish once you bring it. We have a market for it,” stressed
