Western Carollers on top again in PCCU Police Christmas Carolling Competition

A large crowd of enthusiastic supporters and well-wishers turned up at Central Police Station to witness the coveted “Police Co-operative Credit Union Police Christmas Carolling Competition”, held on Friday, December 15, 2017.

At the end of the competition, Western Carollers and Petit Bordel Police Youth Club came out on top as Senior and Junior champions respectively.

The senior competition, which was keenly contested, had eight choirs participating. This is the fifth time that the Western Carollers has won the prized trophy. They emerged winners in 2011, 2013, 2014, 2016 and

2017. They sang “Oh Come All Ye Faithful” in the traditional category and “Western Come Town” in the original category. They also walked away with the “Best Traditional Song and Best Speech”. Second position was captured by Traffic Angels and the Best Original Song, while Auxiliary Carollers took the third spot and Best Turned Out Choir.

Meanwhile, in the Juniors’ competition, Petit Bordel Police Youth Club took the first position, Questelles Police Youth Club came in second, with Paget Farm Police Youth carollers placing third. A total of six choirs competed in this segment.

Acting Commissioner of Police Renold Hadaway and members of the RSVGPF extend congratulations to the winners and commend very highly the members of the public for such a large turnout to the event.
