A police officer who was on suspension pending the outcome of charges brought against him for allegedly impregnating a 12-year-old girl, has found himself in hot waters again.{{more}}
The constable, who was enlisted in the Royal St.Vincent and the Grenadines Police Force on August 1st, 2006, has been on suspension since October 30th last year.
This was confirmed by Commissioner of Police Keith Miller.
Miller said the case was investigated and charges were brought against the officer, but both the adolescent and her mother refused to give evidence in the matter.
In an interview with SEARCHLIGHT last Tuesday afternoon, Commissioner Miller used the opportunity to reiterate the importance of persons giving evidence, which can help to prosecute persons in criminal matters.
As a result of no hard evidence being presented against the officer, he walked away free, but on Thursday, August 13th, the same day he was cleared, it is alleged that he walked up to a 15-year-old female at a fast food outlet in Kingstown and threatened to expose photos he said he had in his possession of her having sex at the Botanic Gardens.
The girlâs parents told SEARCHLIGHT that their daughter was told by the police officer to have sex with him or pay $1,000 if she wanted him to destroy the photos.
The girl reported the matter to her parents, who say she denied having sex at the Botanic Gardens.
The matter was reported to the police.
Commissioner Miller said this second matter is presently under investigation. He vented his concern about the repeated allegations of this nature leveled against the police officer.
Miller also noted that there are other police officers on suspension for other matters.
