Court fines Questelles/Owia fisherman $16,000 for possessing and trafficking cocaine

A fisherman was fined a total of $16,000 for illegally possessing and trafficking 5,539 grammes of cocaine.

Hollis Young, 26, appeared at the Serious Offences Court before Senior Magistrate, Colin John yesterday, February 17, 2025 where he pleaded guilty that on February 6, 2025 at Kingstown, he had in his possession 5539 grammes of cocaine, a controlled drug with intent to supply it to another; and for the purpose of drug trafficking.

The facts are that on the date in question at about 5:00 p.m, Sergeant Huggins acted on information received and headed a party of narcotics personnel to conduct duties at the Grenadines Wharf.

On arrival at the wharf, he set out the men in strategic positions profiling persons coming off the Bequia Express ferry which sailed from Bequia to mainland, St Vincent.

Later the same day, at about 7:00 p.m Huggins took the party of men to Little Tokyo and placed them in a strategic position.
