Paul’s Avenue search results in seven-month prison sentence
A search warrant carried out at a Paul’s Avenue residence resulted in a local athlete being charged and convicted on a number of drug-related offenses.
A substantial amount of drugs and cash was found at the home of Damal Francis, a 36-year-old former national football player during an August 27, 2024 police operation.
Police found 1,273 grams of cannabis and 280 grams of cocaine, both intended for distribution.
Additionally, cash totaling $14,011.04 EC, which included US$679, EC$12,191.40, and BDS$5, was seized and is currently under investigation by the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU) to determine its connection to illicit activities.
Francis appeared in the Barrouallie Magistrate Court on Thursday August 28, 2024 where he pleaded guilty to the charges.
He was sentenced to seven months’ imprisonment for the cocaine charge while he also received a suspended sentence of seven months for the possession of cannabis.
