Woman on multiple charges of fraud, granted $20,000 bail

A 33 year old alleged fraudster, charged with multiple counts of making and using a false instrument was granted bail when she appeared in court.

On Tuesday, October 11 Natalia Bute, a resident of New Montrose appeared in the Serious Offences Court on six counts of fraud.

Bute’s first forgery allegedly took place on December 14, 2021 in Kingstown. She is accused that on this date she made a false instrument, namely a letter to the Electoral Office, with the intention that Annmarie Guy Medica of Belair would use it to convince Lanique Providence of Diamond Estate to accept it as genuine and after accepting it as genuine do an act to prejudice Terrance Matthews of Pembroke.

Bute’s second and third charges are that on December 16, 2021, at Kingstown, she made a false letter to Flow, intending to cause Moisha Vincent of Belair to accept it as genuine and therefore do an act to prejudice Terrance Matthews of Pembroke.

She was also charged twice that on December 16, 2021 she knowingly used a false instrument, namely a letter to Flow, with the intention that the letter would cause Moisha Vincent of Belair to accept it as genuine and therefore do an act to the prejudice of Terrance Matthews of Pembroke.

The final charge is that on December 17, 2021 at Kingstown, she used a false letter to Flow intending that Oydis Browne of Redemption Sharpes uses the letter to cause Levar Franklyn of Richmond Hill to accept it as genuine and therefore do an act to prejudice Terrance Matthews of Pembroke.

The charges were laid indictably and the defendant, who is represented by lawyer, Duane Daniel was not required to plea at this stage.

Prosecutor, Station Sergeant Renrick Cato did not object to bail, and Chief Magistrate Rechanne Browne granted bail in the sum of $20,000 with one surety. Reporting conditions are also attached to the bail.

Bute was ordered to submit all travel documents and report to the Central Police Station once a week. Stop notices are placed at all ports of entry/ exits against her.

A family member stood as surety and the accused was able to make bail.

The matter has been adjourned to November 22.
