Troumaca man in ICU for weeks, alleged beater denied bail
A man who was allegedly severely beaten has been in the Intensive Care Unit(ICU) at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital for weeks so that the one accused of the crime has been denied bail.
Kenneth Davis of Colonaire was charged that, on March 16, at Byera, he unlawfully and maliciously caused grievous bodily harm to Douglas Codougan of Troumaca.
Davis has been on remand in prison as Codougan apparently continues to show no improvement after two surgeries.
At a bail review at the Serious Offences Court (SOC) on Tuesday, April 12, Prosecutor, station sergeant, Renrick Cato informed Chief Magistrate, Rechanne Browne that not much has changed since his last report and the injured man continues to be in hospital. He said that they are just hoping for the best at this point.
Browne denied bail to the accused but informed the unrepresented accused that the option exists for him to apply to the High Court.
Barring any negative changes in the condition of Codougan, the matter will be recalled on May 5.
