Cane Garden man pleads not guilty to fracturing the nose of his child’s mother
A 38-year-old man stands accused of causing grievous bodily harm to a 29-year-old woman.
Kevin Butler, a labourer of Cane Garden, was taken to the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court (KMC) on Friday, February 4, having been charged by PC 427 Henry with the offence of unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm to a woman of Old Montrose.
The incident is alleged to have occurred on January 28, in Roseau, and the nature of the injury is apparently a fractured nose.
The defendant, who was not represented by a lawyer, pleaded ’not guilty’ to the crime.
The prosecution did not object to bail being granted, but asked that certain conditions be attached. The two parties are not currently in a relationship but have a child together.
Therefore, Senior Magistrate, Rickie Burnett set bail in the sum of $3000 with the condition that it is signed by one surety.
Butler is ordered to have no contact with the other party in the matter.
The defendant’s next court appearance on this matter will be May 9.
