Sharpes farmer pleads not guilty to stealing 200lbs of ginger

A charge of the theft of ginger has landed a 30 year old farmer of Redemption Sharpes in court.

According to the police, on November 23, Ezekiel John was arrested and charged with the offence of the theft 200lbs of ginger valued at EC$600.00 belonging to a 60 year old farmer also of Redemption Sharpes. The alleged theft is said to have taken place at Redemption Sharpes between October 9 and 10, 2021.

When John appeared in the Magistrates Court on Wednesday November 24, he told the magistrate that he was not guilty of the alleged theft; he was granted bail in the sum of EC$1000.00 with one surety. The matter was adjourned to February 16, 2022 for trial.
