Court sentences two men to jail on firearms related charges

Arnos Vale resident Kemron Peters was on Thursday November 11, sentenced to serve time in jail for firearms related offences.

According to a police report, Peters who was arrested and charged on August 1, 2021, appeared at the Serious Offences Court for trial on Thursday for allegedly being in unlawful possession of one Taurus semi-automatic pistol and 18 rounds of 9mm ammunition without a license issued under the Firearm Act.

He was found guilty of both charges, and sentenced to 5 years and 3 months in prison for unlawful possession of a firearm, and 2 years for unlawful possession of ammunition. Both sentences will run concurrently.

In another case, the court on Thursday sentenced Quincy Boyde of Ottley Hall to five years and six months at Her Majesty’s Prison for unlawful possession of a firearm and six rounds of ammunition.

Boyde was charged for having in his possession one Glock43 9mm pistol and six rounds of 9mm ammunition at Arnos Vale on August 1, 2021.

He appeared in the Serious Offences Court on November 11, 2021 for trial and was found guilty for the offences. The Ottley Hall resident was sentenced to a term of 5 years and 6 months imprisonment for unlawful possession of a firearm, and seven months for unlawful possession of ammunition. Both sentences will run concurrently.
