Vincentian among five charged with money laundering in the BVI

Vincentian Jomo Jolan Jack, is among five men charged with money laundering and drug related offences in the BVI, following an a drug bust last Friday.{{more}}

The men appeared before the Magistrate in the BVI yesterday.

James Telesforde John, a 62-year-old Captain from Newbush, Tortola, has had charges laid of Importation of Controlled drugs, Conspiracy to supply Controlled Drugs, Possession with intent to supply Controlled drugs, Being concerned in the supply of Controlled drugs and Money Laundering.

Jomo Jolan Jack , a 28-year-old trucker from from St Vincent has had charges laid of Conspiracy to import Controlled drugs, Possession with intent to supply Controlled drugs, Being concerned in the supply of Controlled drugs and Money Laundering.

Hugh Ericksson, a 42-year-old self-employed man from West End has had charges laid of Possession with intent to supply Controlled Drugs, Being concerned with the supply of Controlled drugs and Money Laundering.

Leon King, a 31-year-old Captain from Cane Garden Bay, has had charges laid of Possession with intent to supply Controlled drugs, Being concerned with the supply of Controlled drugs and Money Laundering.

Gerry Freeman, a 48-year-old unemployed man from St Thomas, has had charges laid of Possession with intent to supply Controlled drugs, Being concerned with the supply of Controlled drugs and Money Laundering.

This follows the arrest of these men on Friday. Following further investigation, the Royal Virgin Island Police Force (RVIPF) recovered over $688,000 in cash and around 114 kilos of cocaine. The street value of this seizure is estimated to be $11.4 million.

Detective Chief Inspector Adams of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force has said, ‘This is a significant amount of drugs and money to have been seized by officers. The damage these drugs could have inflicted upon, particularly the young people in this area, and the economic damage this can lead to, cannot be underestimated. I thank the community for their continued support in fighting this despicable crime and urge them to continue to offer us confidential information to ensure we remain the safest place in the region.’

Acting Deputy Commissioner James commended the officers for the excellent job executed on Friday, resulting in the initial seizure of the drugs and cash.(BVI News)
