Sheon Veira, a mechanic of Ratho Mill and Otricia Smart, of Greggs are jointly charged with Cunaro’s murder.

The P.I. got underway on Monday at the Serious Offences Court with testimony coming from Surgical Pathologist, Ronald Child; Justices of the Peace, Benjamin Haynes and Ricardo McDonald and Teacher and Translator, Miche Paul along with two other civilian witnesses.

When the matter resumed on Tuesday, April 19, testimony was taken from three police officers.

Leading the prosecution is lawyer and police officer Station Sergeant Colin Williams, who indicated to the court that they are awaiting the arrival of a Venezuelan witness to give testimony in the matter.

Eleven witnesses are expected to testify.

On June 22, 2010, Cuanaro was shot and killed at his Ratho Mill apartment during an alleged robbery. He sustained gunshot wounds to his right side and chest.

Another Venezuelan, 34-year-old businessman Douglas Effencuanuno Chinios, was also in the apartment at the time of the murder. He sustained gunshot wounds to the fingers on both hands.

Accused Smart is without the aid of a lawyer in the matter and is representing herself, while Carlyle Dougan Q.C. and Grant Connell represent Veira.

The matter continues at the Serious Offences Court and is being heard before Chief Magistrate Sonya Young. (KW)
