Disturbing trend growing in SVG, says High Court Judge
High Court judge Gertel Thom says she sees a disturbing trend in St Vincent and the Grenadines where there is no longer regard for life.{{more}}
Thom was addressing the Court on Monday, March 21, after Mt Grenan resident Shuni Greene was acquitted of a manslaughter charge.
âThe slightest mistake someone makes, you are ready to unleash. You have to learn to control yourselves,â Thom beseeched.
Greene, who was charged with causing the death of his best friend Ulrick Brian Adams back in 2009 had struck Adams with a stone in the head after he (Adams) pelted him with bottles. The altercation took place over a pity of rum.
âYou used to go to the beach together and now heâs dead, Over what? Over a pity of rum?â Thom asked.
Thom said it was her hope that Greene would learn from his experience and would reflect on what happened.
