After nearly two weeks on the run from police, Jackson, who was wanted in connection with robberies and burglaries, was found on Friday, March 11, under a mattress at a house in New Montrose.
Jackson, was brought before Senior Magistrate Donald Browne at the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court on Tuesday, March 15, on a burglary charge.
The youngster, who appeared in the witness dock barefoot, explained to the court that he had not been evading the police. Jackson said he had gone to the island of Bequia because he was told that his father had returned from the United States.
âI ainât see my father from since I been small and I been go down Bequia, but people been telling me is not so (that his father returned).
Jackson added that when he returned from Bequia, he and his mother checked the date when he was supposed to appear in court, but they realised that the bench warrant was already out for him.
On Monday, March 7, Jackson was scheduled to appear in court on another matter.
On the burglary charge, Jackson pleaded not guilty to entering the house of Maxwell Brewster of New Montrose and stealing a quantity of items valued at $1,395 on February 22, 2011.
He was remanded.
