Only a handful of prisoners was brought to the court to answer charges ranging from possession of small amounts of cannabis, and possession of offensive weapons, mainly knives and pairs of scissors.
All the persons charged with the offences pleaded guilty and walked away with small fines as their punishment.
This huge reduction is said by police to be linked to the strong presence of the police on the streets throughout the weekend of activities which culminated on Tuesday, July 6, with Mardi Gras.
