Frederick blames his actions on intoxication

Peter Lee Frederick told Chief Magistrate Sonya Young that it was his drunken stupor that made him break the law.

Frederick, 25, labourer of Barrouallie, pleaded guilty at the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday to attempted burglary on December 2, 2009.{{more}}

“Your Worship, I was intoxicated at the time and I was drinking plenty,” Frederick explained.

For his actions, Magistrate Young placed Frederick on a one-year bond in the sum of $500, or in default he would spend three months in jail.

The court heard that at about 11pm the virtual complainant secured her house and went to bed. While asleep, she heard a noise coming from an unlocked window in the living room.

The woman went to investigate and saw Frederick trying to pull out the wooden window. The woman shouted to Frederick and he walked away.

Moments later, Frederick went back to the woman’s house and told her that someone was in her yard. She refuted his claim and fingered him as the man who had been trying to pull out her window.

The police were called in and Frederick was later arrested and charged. He admitted to the police that it was he who was on the woman’s property that night.(OS)
