Mirando Harry, 51, labourer of Chateaubelair, appeared at the Serious Offences Court on Monday, August 10, and pleaded guilty to the cannabis possession.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young fined Harry $6,500 and ordered him to pay $4,000 forthwith and the remainder in three months or he will spend one year in jail. Harry was initially charged with Petula Lewis of Richland Park, but she pleaded not guilty and no evidence was offered against her in the matter.

Information revealed at the court stated that the police officers went to Harry’s home to execute a search warrant in respect of drugs at about 5:50 p.m. on August 9. While searching the house, officers opened the refrigerator and found six taped packages hidden in the lower compartment.

When cautioned by officers, Harry replied: “Oh gawd officer! Ah Supa Dan gimme dem fo hold. Watch how me lock up now.”

When asked by Chief Magistrate Young why he took the drugs from “Supa Dan”, Harry said that he had just asked him to hold them, so he did. “I never knew you had to refrigerate marijuana now,” chuckled Magistrate Young.
