On Wednesday this week, the young man pleaded not guilty to stealing a quantity of electronic items valued at over $2,000 in April this year. Already on station bail, he was released in the custody of his mother and the matter was transferred to the Family Court.

“I have to send him to church to set him straight and I want him to keep away from bad company,” the Senior Magistrate asserted.

Counsel for the accused, Duane Daniel looked surprised after hearing the order by the Magistrate. “Don’t be surprised by this Mr Daniel. It is done in other countries, too,” Browne stated firmly.

Pastor Paul Kirby, who was seated in the courtroom at the time, applauded when Magistrate Browne made the order.

In addition, the boy was placed on a 6pm-6am curfew until the matter concludes.
