Addressing the media at the Serious Offences Court on Monday, July 13, 2009, Magistrate Young said that it was because of the strong presence of the police during the carnival season that she did not have many new arrests on Wednesday, July 8th. She also praised them for a job well done.
Last week, Head of the Criminal Investigation Department Brinsley Ballantyne called this yearâs carnival the âbest carnival everâ, as the police force saw a reduction in the number of reports made to the C.I.D. for the carnival (from 81 reports in 2008 to 67 reports in 2009).
Also speaking to Searchlight last week, Prosecutor Inspector Nigel Butcher also lauded police officers for their hard work, expressing his hopes that it would remain that way in years to come.(OS)
