Cumberbatch to stand trial for Sutherland’s death

Shanette Cumberbatch will have to stand before a Judge and Jury on her next court date as she has been committed to stand trial at the High Court by Chief Magistrate Sonya Young.

Cumberbatch is charged with causing the death of 27-year-old Rashek Sutherland, of Queen’s Drive.{{more}} Rashek Sutherland died on October 13th, 2008, at the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, after he succumbed to head injuries believed to be caused by a blow with a piece of stick to the head.

The Preliminary Inquiry concluded on Monday, June 22nd, 2009, at the Serious Offences Court. The prosecution presented their final witness, Dr. Tracy Barnard, who gave evidence from a post mortem report that Rashek’s cause of death was blunt force trauma to the head.
