Charles fined $150 cannabis possession
A 43-year-old Lowmans Windward man who says he is addicted to marijuana has been fined $150 for feeding his habit.
Chief Magistrate Sonya Young gave Alston Charles two days to pay the fine or he faces two weeks in jail.{{more}} Charles pleaded guilty at the Serious Offences Court on Monday, June 8, for having 38 grams of cannabis in his possession with intent to supply.
âIâm addicted to weed and I smoke about 10 bombs (marijuana cigarettes) per day my Worship,â Charles admitted.
Members of the Narcotics Unit nabbed Charles over the weekend while he was standing at a bus stop in Lowmans Windward. The officers approached him and requested a search of his person and a bag containing 21 bombs were found in Charlesâ right front pants pocket.
Charles told the Magistrate that he was embarrassed by his actions and the fact that his children had to find out about his addiction.(KW)
