A 12-member mixed jury convicted Williams last Thursday March 19, 2009, for the murder of 36-year-old Terry Browne, which occurred on December 31, 2007, at Rose Hall.
Justice Gertel Thom adjourned the sentencing to the next sitting of the Criminal Assizes to be held in May.
The evidence led in the court indicated that at about 7:35am, both men were involved in an argument. During the argument, Luke, who was standing with his hands behind his back, pulled out a pair scissors and stabbed Browne in his chest. Browne was rushed to the Chateaubelair Hospital, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
Williams turned himself in to the police shortly after the incident.
Lawyer for the convict, Arthur Williams, had argued that his client was only trying to protect himself because the deceased was beating him with a piece of steel pipe. He further noted that there was also an element of provocation against the convicted Williams.
