Natanis Quashie pleaded guilty to possession of a nine-millimeter semi-automatic pistol at South Union on November 2008 at 4am. Quashie was jointly charged with Keniel Daniel, 18, of Belair, Raphael Hunte, 27, labourer of Belair and 18 year-old Denver Williams also of Belair, who all pleaded not guilty to the charge and were granted bail. A decision will be made by the Prosecution to ascertain whether or not the matter will go ahead against them.

The court heard that Narcotics personnel were on mobile in the area when they observed the group traveling in a vehicle. They were summoned to stop, which they did. The vehicle was searched and the gun was retrieved.

Chief Magistrate Sonya Young ordered that a social inquiry report be furnished to the court to assist with Quashie’s sentencing. (KW)
