A 12-member mixed jury at the High Court convicted Saul, 32, also of Richland Park, on Thursday, October 23, 2008.
The facts revealed that Grant-Mornix was leaving her house about 8:30am on October 8, 2007, to take her 5-year-old son to school when she was attacked by the accused. It was said that Saul struck Grant-Mornix on her head with a piece of pipe, about three feet long, then stabbed her several times about her body.
A post mortem carried out on Grant-Mornixâs body revealed that she died from blunt trauma and multiple stab wounds.
A psychiatric and social inquiry for Mornix should be handed to the court on or before November 7, 2008.
Director of Public Prosecutions Colin Williams and attorney Carl Williams led the case for the crown, while Lawyer Stephen Williams represented Saul in the matter.
