Byron gets nine months for burglary, theft

Nigel Byron is now into the third day of his nine-month prison sentence.

Byron, 19, of Lowmans Leeward, was sentenced at the Serious Offences Court after pleading guilty to three charges ranging from wounding, to burglary and theft.{{more}}

Byron was sentenced to three months for the burglary charge and another three for theft. The sentences will run concurrently. He was given a six-month custodial sentence for the wounding charge.

On August 16, 2008, after stealing a car and running it over an embankment at Dorsetshire Hill, The young man struck Vice President of the Chamber of Industry and Commerce Andrew Woodroffe over the head with an electric tire pump after he had gone to Byron’s assistance.

A social inquiry report on Byron to assist with sentencing stated that his stepfather physically abused him and that he had never had a stable place of abode.(KW)
