Ashton, 19, of Campden Park, last appeared at the Serious Offences Court on August 13, 2008, and pleaded guilty to possession of one .25 auto pistol and nine rounds of .25 ammunition, driving without the proper license and without a driver’s permit in Kingstown on August 8, 2008. He was sentenced to six months on the ammunition charge and two and a half years on the gun charge. The sentences would run concurrently.

Initially, Ashton was jointly charged with Darsil Charles, 24, of Pembroke, who pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The matters against him were dismissed.

For driving without the proper license, Chief Magistrate Sonya Young fined Ashton $500 to be paid in three months, or he would spend four months in jail. For driving without a permit, he was fined $200 in one month or two months in jail. Ashton was also disqualified from holding a driver’s licence for one year.
