So on Wednesday at the Serious Offences Court when Darsil Charles and Devon Ashton stepped into the defendant’s box, it was business as usual.

Charles, 24, labourer, of Pembroke, and Ashton, 19, of Campden Park, were arrested and charged for being in possession of one .25 auto pistol and nine rounds of .25 ammunition in Kingstown on August 8, 2008.

Ashton pleaded guilty to both charges and was remanded to her Majesty’s Prison until today for sentencing. Charles, on the other hand, pleaded not guilty to both charges, but was still remanded into custody until today awaiting a decision from the prosecution as to if they are going to stick with the charges against him or dismiss them.

In addition to his two charges, Ashton pleaded guilty on two other charges of driving without the proper licence and without a driver’s permit. His sentencing on all matters will be done today.
