Heville was arrested and charged with unlawfully and maliciously inflicting grievous bodily harm on Fitz-Gerald Alexander, 44, a farmer also of Barrouallie.

The court heard that Alexander was shot in his left eye and left shoulder with a shotgun at Barrouallie about 10:45am. A reliable source told SEARCHLIGHT that both men were engaged in an argument, which spilled over into a fight. It was also heard that Alexander had to chop Henville with a cutlass on his hand to stop him from shooting.

The defendant told the court that four men attacked him and he was only trying to defend himself.

It was reported that the victim was in critical condition and had already lost his eye and that his arm may have to be amputated.

The matter was adjourned to October 21 for Preliminary Inquiry.
