The ceremony was held in an intimate gathering at Justice Frederick Bruce-Lyle’s chambers on Monday at the High Court.

Errol Layne, Delany’s father-in-law presented him to Justice Bruce-Lyle, while Sharda Sinanan-Bollers seconded his application.

A jovial Delany told SEARCHLIGHT that he was glad to be back home and be part of the legal community. “I am glad to have finally been called to the Bar after completing my studies in Trinidad,” stated Delany.

Delany thanked his family, especially his wife Vanessa and their son Riley for all their support throughout his sojourn. He admitted it was difficult for him being in Trinidad for over nine months with only the occasional opportunity to visit his son and wife in Barbados.

The attorney said that he is hoping to start litigation practice here soon and sees it as a way for his firm, Clarke Gittens Farmer Law, of Barbados, to branch out throughout the Caribbean.

Delany, a North American with Vincentian citizenship, who recently completed his studies at the Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago, was awarded the Legal Education Certificate from the Commonwealth Caribbean’s Council of Legal Education. He has been admitted to the Florida Bar, as well as multiple courts throughout North America.

He has been called to the Bar of Trinidad and Tobago, and is formerly a partner of the Florida Law Firm of Peterson Bernard, where he handled complex litigation matters and commercial transactions for both domestic and international clients. Delany also earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science and English from New England College. In addition to his already impressive resumé, Delany attained his Doctor of Jurisprudence degree while attending the Shepherd Broad Law Centre at Nova Southeastern University and was selected “Who’s Who” among American Law students.
