The six-foot plus lanky Barbadian fugitive was arrested and charged on August 6, 2007, and charged with the murder of 22-year-old Ottley Hall resident Sean Baptiste, who succumbed to a single gunshot wound to his chest in broad daylight on March 1, 2007 at Ottley Hall. SEARCHLIGHT understands that Baptiste and another man had an encounter at about 9:15am that morning. Baptiste was shot during the altercation.
The preliminary hearing saw the prosecution, led by Station Sergeant Nigel Butcher calling a total of four witnesses to the stand to give evidence in the matter.
Just as any good lawyer would do when representing a client, Williams fired back questions at the prosecutionâs witnesses under cross-examination. Jotting down bits of information in his double lined exercise book, Williams carefully studied the evidence given by witnesses.
After about two hours, Chief Magistrate Sonya Young adjourned the matter to March 18.
Williams is wanted in Barbados in connection with four murders and a spate of armed robberies. Police also confirmed that Williams has admitted to two of the murders in Barbados.
Baptiste was the third gunshot victim and fourth homicide in St Vincent and the Grenadines in 2007.
