John pleads guilty to cannabis possession

âI is ah farmer and I have four kids to look after, ah jus asking yo to have mercy pon me,â cried 44-year-old John.
John, a farmer of Georgetown, pleaded guilty on Monday at the Serious Offences Court to having 406 grams of cannabis in his possession with intent to supply to another.
Chief Magistrate Sonya Young slapped John with a $600 fine to be paid in one month or go to prison for four months.
Reports reaching the courtroom state that on February 15 about 8:40 pm, a party of Rapid Response Unit and Drug Squad personnel went to the home of the defendant at Georgetown to execute a search warrant.
During the search, a newspaper was found in the living room covering the cannabis substance. The defendant was cautioned and replied, âAh does sell ah little ting sometimes.â
