Gunshot victim dies at MCMH on Christmas Day

While the rest of the country celebrated on Christmas Day, Lloyd Samuel died in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital (MCMH).

Samuel was shot three times in the head on 22nd December around 1:15 am, while reversing his car, P1882, into his yard at Trigger Ridge in Redemption Sharpes, causing him to lose control. The car crashed into a lamp pole, and Samuel was taken to the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital by a taxi driver who was in the area. {{more}}

Also known as Lazarus, Samuel was still conscious when he arrived at the hospital. His last words were “Help me,” before he lapsed into a coma, from which he never woke.

In early October, two shots were fired at Samuel from some bushes close to his home, while he was in his car. The bullets broke the left side front window of his car. A week after the first incident, five shots were also fired at Samuel while driving in the Hollywood area of Redemption Sharpes.

Lloyd Samuel was the father of nine children. His death brought the number of killings by gunfire to 21, and the number of homicides to 35 for 2007. He will be buried on Saturday. At press time on Wednesday, no suspect had been caught. Police are still investigating the matter.(AC)
