Bajan fined $100 for cannabis possession
Barbadian national, Gregory Francis, was sent packing to his homeland after appearing in court on marijuana possession.
The 33-year-old appeared before new Chief Magistrate Sonya Young on Wednesday at the Serious Offences Court and pleaded guilty to having one partly burnt cannabis cigarette in his possession. He was fined $100 forthwith or spend one month in jail.{{more}}
It was said that the defendant came to these shores during the Christmas season and was residing at Layou.
On December 31, police were on mobile patrol in the Layou area when Francis was spotted on the public road with other men smoking.
The police approached him and took away the cannabis. He was cautioned and replied, âOfficer me ah Bajan, gimme ah chance.â(KW)
