Senior Magistrate Donald Browne made a deportation order against Alexander on Tuesday at the Kingstown Magistrateâs Court.
Alexander told the court that he arrived in Union Island by speedboat. He said that his cousin was shot in his leg and he wanted to bring him to the mainland to seek medical attention and that was when he got caught.
According to information received, police were carrying out an investigation into Alexander and his brother Leon Joe Alexander who were arrested for marijuana possession. However, that charge against Benedict was dismissed. Further checks made by officers revealed that he was a Grenadian.
Magistrate Browne told the young man that nationals from any other country are always welcomed here but they have to go through the proper channels first. âWe in SVG want to see people from all over the world come here, but we want them to come legally,â Browne said. (KW)
