Go to church, says Magistrate Browne

From this Sunday onwards, Kishorn Jackson must find himself in Church, as part of his one-year bond for breaking into a house and stealing a Sony Play Station game console.{{more}}

He was slapped with the penalty on Monday at the Kingstown Magistrates Court when he appeared before Senior Magistrate Donald Browne. Jackson also has to fork over $100 compensation, and if he breaks the one year bond, he has to pay $1500 or he stands going to prison for six months.

The facts indicate that on October 3, 2006, the complainant secured her house at Rillan Hill at about 8 am and went to Layou. One of the bedroom windows on the left side of the house was left open. When she returned around 2pm that day, she discovered the Play Station missing, as well as $100 from a bag left at the foot of her bed.

The matter was reported to the police and investigations carried out by the police led to the defendant’s arrest. Luckily, the game console was recovered in good condition.

“Somebody with licensed firearms will shoot persons coming into their houses.

Why don’t you do something better?” Magistrate Browne asked.

“I am also ordering that you find a church in your community to attend so you would be set on the straight and narrow,” Browne added.
