According to reports, on Sunday, August 26, Corporal 477 Palmer and 763 Roberts were on a foot patrol duty along the Mustique public road, where they met a group of men sitting. Ragguette was part of the group, and began using indecent language at one of the officers.

The officer then tried to arrest Ragguette, during which Ragguette squeezed Corporal Palmer’s right thumb. Raguette got away and began running, but was recaptured with the help of other officers.

When Ragguette appeared before the Kingstown Magistrates’ Court on Monday, he pleaded guilty to all three offences and was ordered to pay $250 in 7 days or spend three months in prison for the use of indecent language, $350 in seven days or spend 9 months in prison for assaulting the officer. On the other charge of resisting arrest, he was reprimanded and discharged.(SB)
