Park Hill burglar to spend 2 years in jail

Melvin Samuel, a 30-year-old labourer of Park Hill will have to spend the next two years behind bars after pleading guilty to three charges of burglary and one of theft.{{more}}

On Monday, Samuel was sentenced to two years in prison for entering the dwelling house of Vernor Stephens on August 4 and stealing a transistor radio and a wallet containing $150.

He was also given an 18-month sentence for entering the same complainant’s house between July 6-8 and stealing a roll of lacing wire, a hammer, cutlass and 14lb of nails with a value of $230.

Samuel was also given 12 months for stealing another transistor radio valued at $80 and 18-months for entering a shed belonging to Ralson Glasgow and stealing a cutlass, a roll of twine and a sack of fertilizer all valued at $260.

The sentences will run concurrently.
