Walvaroo man charged with arson

Moments after appearing at the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday, Dillon Lewis posed for the cameras and pumped his fists in the air after Chief Magistrate Simone Churaman remanded him to her Majesty’s Prison on a charge of arson.{{more}}

Lewis, 29, labourer of Walvaroo was charged with setting fire to the wooden house of Joel Chance of Walvaroo between July 13-15, 2007. The value of items lost amounted to $8450.

The court heard that Lewis and Chance had an argument on July 13th. It was stated that persons in the area saw when Lewis went to Chance’s house.

Chance returned to his home on the 15th only to meet his abode destroyed.

The matter was adjourned to August 14th for a Preliminary Inquiry.(KW)
