Father, Son on $10,000 bail for wounding

A father and son was each granted $10,000 bail after being hauled before the Serious Offences Court on Tuesday on a wounding charge.

Devon Delpesche of Campden Park, an employee with the Ministry of Trade and his son, Zavier Williams, 19, farmer also of the same address were charged for shooting Leslie Williams of Campden Park.##M;[more]##

The court heard that Williams was injured after he was shot in his back and shoulder with pellets. He however has since been discharged from the Milton Cato Memorial Hospital.

The court heard that Leslie and Zavier had a dispute earlier that day and at about 7.10 p.m. Zavier with his father, got in their car and met the defendant along the public road and rang out several shots.

Station Sergeant Nigel Butcher told the court that there is an ongoing gang war in the area between Zavier and another gang.

Representative for the defendants, Grant Connell said that Butcher’s statement was prejudicial to the case.

The matter was adjourned to May 22 for a Preliminary Inquiry.
