Three charged in RRU drug net
Members of Rapid Response Unit (RRU) are working tirelessly to make sure that illegal drugs are swept off the streets of St Vincent and the Grenadines and on October 13, 2006 their valiant efforts bore fruit.
Three men were jointly arrested and charged for having 2,132 grams of cocaine in their possession with intent to supply.{{more}} The three: Charles Constance, 46, craftsman of Paul’s Avenue, Kelvin Jackson, 24, of Union Island and Jomo Douglas, 26 years of Redemption Sharpes appeared at the Serious Crimes Court on Monday where they all pled not guilty. They were granted bail in the sum of $10,000 each and ordered to surrender their travel documents.
At about 4:15 pm. Police Constable 93, Dwayne Bailey was among Police Personnel in the Stoney Grounds area when he received certain information. Police then went in search of motor vehicle, RN635. The vehicle was spotted in New Montrose area when police sounded their siren for them to stop. A search was then carried out on the vehicle and in the front passenger seat where Constance was sitting, a white plastic bag was found. It was opened in the presence of three men and two taped packages were found in it. They were cautioned and Constance replied, “Officer is ah partner own.” The three are set to reappear in court next Wednesday.
