Woman fined for cocaine

Sharon Joseph, a 27-year-old domestic of Chateaubelair, pleaded guilty to having seven grams of cocaine in her possession with intent to supply to another.

As a result she was ordered to pay a fine of $750 in two months or spend one year in jail. The accused appeared before Magistrate Donald Browne at the Kingstown Magistrate’s Court.{{more}}

The court heard that on February 18, 2006, a search by the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) was carried out at the defendant’s home at about 5:30 p.m.

Their search of the house was fruitless, but a search conducted on Joseph’s person revealed a black bag containing 32 small packages of a substance resembling cocaine in her underwear.

Upon being questioned by the Magistrate, the defendant said she found the substance and decided to take it. “You’re a very stupid woman and a liar,” the Magistrate said.
